    Dog Food For Each Age

The Type and Amount of Dog Food Varies With Age

The amount of food you should feed your dog depends on the age of the dog. Like humans, dogs go through different stages of development and there are different nutrition needs for each of these stages. The amount of dog food also depends on the size of the dog and its level of activity.

    Feeding Times per Day

Some dog owners have a schedule for feeding, while others leave the feeding times up to the dog. A new dog owner will quickly learn when the dog is hungry and is looking for food. As a rule, a puppy needs nutrition more often – at least four times a day. This decreases as the dog gets older, so that from three to six months, feeding should be three times a day, from three to six months, twice a day and up to a year, once a day is fine. Older dogs may eat one or two times a day.

    Nutrition

    A Random Dog Image

For puppies, nutritional dog food is important to help build the skeletal muscles. It is important to control the amount of dog food that large dog breeds consume at an early age because feeding them too much can make them overweight, which is harmful to a dog’s health. Dog food with nutrition is necessary at all stages of a dog’s life to make sure they have the proper vitamins, minerals and protein to keep their organs working properly.

    Portion Control

Dog’s will eat a lot more than they need to, while is why owners need to control the portions of food they put out for each meal. Packaged dog food contains the recommended amounts for each stage of a dog’s life to help you have a healthy pet. Relevant Links:Dog Food by Age
